Assignments for the 31st of August will be on the
website by Saturday morning. Please check the site to see where you
are assigned.
We have a number of play-off games on that day and I will be scheduling 6 man crews to these games. It is a good time for us all to get familiar with the large crew mechanics. You might just need them on the 20th/21st Sept.
Larger crews often lead to increased drop outs.
These are important games and I would urge everyone assigned to them
to do their utmost to make the fixture.

I don’t view the assigned positions for each
game as absolute. If a crew wishes to move around positionally that
is quite ok as far as I am concerned. This is particularly important
given the volume of changes you have had to endure this season.
Feel free within
crews to swap positions if it suits everyone in the crew to do so.

There is an associate game potentially scheduled for October 12th. If anybody is interested in a trip to Inverness could you please let me know as soon as possible.
Responses by Wednesday 27th would be very good.

Congratulations to Graham Hedges on completing the Induction Training Programme. My thanks to everyone who helped with Graham’s training.

In the game between Dundee Hurricanes and South Yorkshire Mustangs at the Keepmoat stadium. Game management was superb as usual with an immaculate surface to play on. The chain crew was as good as any BAFRA chain crew could be. Both sets of coaches need to be applauded for their excellent attitudes. Both sets of players displayed excellent attitudes especially in the way they responded to our 'preventative officiating', helping the game flow with not many flags.

This week's Newsflash was a Ben production. Dean Wright will be resuming normal service when he returns next week.

Bolton Bulldogs |
All the Bulldogs' equipment was locked in a store to which the Council had recently changed the locks. Team had no access to the store. No 5 yard lines on the field, no goalposts and the match balls were of very poor quality. The stakes were telescopic rods which extended to 5' and had no clear markings – it was difficult to see them. The chain crew did their best in spite of the horrendous weather conditions, but they were – apart from the down box person – very slow and unsure about their role. Tim Vickers #129 |

Chester Romans |
Game suspended for 20 minutes in the second quarter due to serious injury. Congratulations to the Romans personnel for the way in which they handled the incident, especially their medical officer who lead the incident calmly and with a great duty of care. Both teams' players should also be congratulated for the sportsmanlike behaviour they showed throughout the incident. Mark Snow #430 |

The ambulance was only booked between 1pm and 4pm – it had to leave at 3:50pm. The game was abandoned at this point. Henry Richardson #358 |

Southern Sundevils |
End zones only 8yds deep. Inbounds lines 21yds from sidelines. Goals strapped to fence, 3yds beyond end line - officials could not get behind. Two wires across the field about 8ft off ground. We notified both teams that if the ball touched the wire it would be dead and inadvertent whistle provisions would apply. Phil Clarke #372 |

|
Sussex Thunder |
Changing rooms were not lockable. The field scored a perfect 0 on the field audit. Plaudits to both teams for a hard fought game with no major penalties. Peter Parsons #321 |
