In order to recognise bowl game crews,
we will again be offering Bowl Game shirts for Youth, Divisions
1 and 2 and Premier bowl crews. Referees for the bowl games
have been sent an order form to be completed and returned to me by
Wednesday 22nd September.
Once again we are offering a choice of
colours, I will leave it to individual crews to decide whether to
have individual preference or the same colour for the whole crew.
We will also need the shirt size! Details are on the order
form.
It is not compulsory to have a
shirt - if someone doesn't want to have one don't put them on the
order! The spreadsheet should be self explanatory, but if you have
any problems, let me know.
All orders must be received by me by
Wednesday 22nd September, and will be distributed as soon as possible
thereafter.
BAFRA branded polo shirts, similar to those offered to Bowl Game Crews are also available to the general membership to order from me. Shirts come in a variety of colours and sizes. Cost will depend on how many are ordered as our suppliers offer bulk discounts, but should be around £10 to £20 including postage. Anyone interested should email me by 25th September for more details.

As you will know, we have tried to actively support football at grassroots level by seeking volunteers to work these games. I have received the following email from Julius Hobbs at Kent Exiles (via Jim Blinkhorn, emphasis mine).
“Hi Jim,
Whilst I have a moment to myself, I'd just like to say thank you for all your effort and work this season. The Junior kitted season seemed to run extremely well, and it was well organised. Certainly, the conference HC'S all seem to get on pretty well, which I think helps, but you obviously put a lot of work in yourself. I also felt that the provision of refs for tournaments was fantastic, really enhanced the Junior kitted experience for the lads and the watching public, and certainly I enjoyed coaching more with them there. They did a fine job.
Thanks again for all your work, and I hope that this format moves forward, and is as successful next year”.
So, many thanks to everyone who got involved in the JK football this year. Hopefully we can provide support for them again next season.

No new play this week.
Last week: 4th and goal from B’s 9. Team A lines up in a field goal formation. The ball is snapped, and guards A30 and A50 both attempt to block opponents below the waist, leaving their feet in order to do so. A30 contacts B12 at the knee area and knocks him down. B10 jumps with one foot foremost over A50 to avoid the block, and A50 does not contact him. Holder A6 catches the snap on one knee (at B’s 17), and then rises to his feet, holding the ball as though to pass it forward. He remains stationary and then, under pressure from B30, he throws the ball through the goalposts and above the crossbar to avoid being sacked.
Ruling: Rule 9-1-2-e-4 only prohibits blocking below the waist when a kick is made from a scrimmage kick formation; A30’s block is legal. As A50’s block has taken him off his feet, B12’s action does not fit Rule 2-14-1’s definition of a hurdle and is also legal. No eligible reciever could have caught A6’s pass, which has been thrown to save loss of yardage; A6 therefore commits intentional grounding. Loss of down at the spot of the foul.Team B will next put the ball in play, 1st and 10 on their 17-yard line.
This week's Newsflash was produced by Alan Dobson. Dean Wright has now completed his move and will resume normal service from next week.
Thanks to everyone for getting your reports and articles in on time – it’s been very much appreciated on this end, even if certain people (who know who they are) have insisted on addressing them all to “Dean”…
