Berkshire Renegades (U16) | Berkshire’s intended venue became unavailable at short notice; they therefore played at Woodford Park Leisure Centre. Changing rooms were initially unavailable for officials, with teams sharing changing rooms. Eventually, the officials were advised to use the public changing rooms, which were not lockable but did have paid-for lockers. The artificial field wasn’t available until 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Berkshire had to be off the field by 18:00. The field was marked out with cones in reasonably straight lines. A down box was provided, which was well operated and appreciated. With 5:14 left in the second game, a London Warriors player suffered an injury which required an ambulance. With agreement from both coaches, the remaining time was reduced to 0:00. At 17:30, with the ambulance still not on site, and with agreement from both Berkshire and Wembley coaches, the third game of the tournament was abandoned. Whilst not the day that was hoped for, credit to all teams for a well-spirited tournament and to Berkshire for making the most of a last-minute venue change. James Statham #187 | Unknown |
London Warriors (U16) | U16 friendly fixture. Field marked with cones, with the soccer halfway line used as the halfway mark and the penalty area being the goal line. The changing room was a meeting/class room with full-length windows overlooking the field, so some members of the crew elected to change in the bathroom. Daniel Clarke #311 | Unknown |
NFL Academy | Controlled scrimmage. Joel Pearson #405 | Unknown |
Game played on NFL-marked field under NFHS rules with added NCAA hash marks. NFL-style team areas. Changing room not locked. Peter Parsons #321 | ||
Team South East (U19) | Game moved venue at fairly short notice to the Wembley Stallions venue. Therefore, some of the field markings had become faint after the end of the normal BAFA season. As the game did not have the normal Wembley gameday management present, the changing room was not lockable and not signed for the officials. There were several interruptions where players opened the door thinking it was a spare changing room. There was one medical suspension that was longer than five minutes. Phil Clarke #262 | Unknown |
PLAY OF THE WEEK: | |
New this week | Play: On a correctly marked 100 yard field, how many hash marks are there?
|
Last week | Play: Second and five at the A-45. Ball carrier A33 breaks out into the open and has a clear path to the goal line. At the B-2 they suddenly make a sharp left turn and trot along the B-2 as the Team B players begin to catch up to them. They then carry the ball into the end zone. A33 next runs to the stands and begins to exchange "high-fives" with the fans.

MECHANICS: | |
New this week | Game Situation: Prior to kick-off; on a 5 person crew which official is responsible for briefing the medical personnel on what signals are to be used to summon them onto the field.
|
Last week | Game Situation: Team A's ball, 1st and 10, on Team A's 20 yard line. QB A14 throws a legal forward pass that falls incomplete beyond the line of scrimmage. While the ball is airborne, B64 accidentally grabs A14's face mask. Answer: There is no such thing as an accidental or incidental facemask foul. Remember that a facemask foul involves grasping the helmet or the facemask, not simply touching it (M3.3.11). It is not a foul if the facemask is not grasped then twisted, turned or pulled (9-1-8-b). The covering official must observe for a grasping, twisting or pulling of the facemask in order to call a 15 yard foul. When in question, it is a foul (M3.9.49). |
